Teach Your Child How To Treat Others
When we observe Martin Luther King’s birthday (Monday, January 17th), we also can’t help but think about the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King, Jr. was so integral to the progress of civil rights for African Americans in the United States. Through speeches, organized marches, sit ins, and other peaceful protests, people from all over the world raised the banner of injustice, demanding that unjust laws and practices be changed. Many laws have been changed, and more are changing but there is still work to do to treat people fairly in our country and around the world.
As parents, you have the responsibility to teach your children how to treat others. Regardless of their race, they should treat everyone with dignity and respect. As you set a strong foundation, who knows how God will use their knowledge to impact the world? I’m sure Martin Luther King’s parents had no idea their son would lead the civil rights movement the way he did! Make time to teach your children about God and His ways. Consider scheduling time to watch the Children’s Church lesson, How to Treat Others, with your child. In this lesson, students learn about the Good Samaritan (Luke 10: 25 -37). Through this parable, they will learn that God wants us to help everyone we come across.
Eastern Star’s 2022 church theme is A Spiritual Reset (Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, 42-47). Programming, church wide, will focus on reminding us to get back to the basics of our faith, engaging in practices that help us increasingly know God, reflect God in our character and draw others into a saving relationship with Him. Our Children’s Ministry will continue to offer programming virtually and is working to return to in person programming this year. God can use your child to be an example of His truth in this dark world. Help them be the best example by taking advantage of the programming we offer. Virtual Children’s Church is offered on the 1st & 3rd Sundays on ESC Ignite Children’s YouTube channel. We also offer a Watch Party on 3rd Sundays via Zoom. Students get a chance to interact and watch the select Children’s Church video with their peers. Registration is required. Register by visiting the ESC Events page.
