Children’s Ministry Returns to In Person Programming
Training children in the God’s ways is an important part of a believer’s life. The following scriptures support this truth:
1. Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child [c]in the way he should go, Even when he grows older he will not abandon it.
2. Ephesians 6:4 - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
3. Deuteronomy 6: 4 -7 - “Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. And you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.
The local church comes alongside parents to help them train their children in the ways of the Lord. Eastern Star Church has programming for children to help expose them to God’s truth. Before COV-19 and shelter in place protocols, the church offered Children’s Church on Sundays and Bible Study on Wednesdays. Children could also participate in Joybelles, our children’s choir. During the pandemic, children’s ministry leaders shifted and provided bimonthly Children’s Church virtually by providing videos on the ESC Ignite Children’s Ministry YouTube channel. Sis Sandra, ESC Senior Coordinator for Children’s Ministry, also hosted monthly Children’s Church Watch parties, where students could watch the children’s church video with other students and participate in online activities.
On Sunday, April 17, Resurrection Sunday, in person children’s ministry programming started again. Let’s hear from one of our families regarding how ESC programming impacts their lives.
Let’s meet the Garrett Family!
Patrick and Elizabeth Garrett (parents), Dawn Garrett (3rd grade) and Halle Garrett (1st grade)
How were your children involved before the pandemic? What did they enjoy most about their participation?
They were involved in cheerleading, Joybelles, Children’s church, Vacation Bible School, Children’s bible study, and the Hallelujah party (Halloween). They were fun and they enjoyed learning about God and being with their friends. It was nice to know the kids were safe with church family. They have made strong relationships with their peers and even their teachers. The kids were quoting scripture at a young age (3),
How did programming help your children during the pandemic?
It helped us stay connected when we were away from church and our friends. The girls were still able to participate in Children’s church, Joybelles, and summer camp.
What is your family looking forward to the most about returning to in person programming?
Dawn wants to help Ms. Keith in person! Halle can’t wait to see her friends in person. For some reason they are looking forward to having snacks during the lesson!
Children’s Ministry programming is back so make time to get your young people involved. It will make a difference in their lives!
