Trail Mix Popcorn

INGREDIENTS

1/3 – 1⁄2 cup popcorn kernels
1⁄4 - 1⁄2 cup dried cherries, chopped
1⁄4 - 1⁄2 cup dried cranberries, chopped
1⁄4 cup chopped nuts (any variety you prefer)
1 square of pure, unsweetened chocolate (optional) Honey
Salt
Canola oil

Instructions:

In a large pot or skillet, heat oil over medium heat.

Add a few popcorn kernels and allow them to pop; add the remainder of the kernels.

Once popped, immediately pour popcorn onto a large cookie sheet. Remove any unpopped kernels. You may lightly salt the popcorn at this point if you choose.

Grate chocolate over hot popcorn, making sure to distribute evenly. Sprinkle chopped fruit and nuts over popcorn.

Lightlydrizzlepopcornmixturewithhoney. Very lightly salt popcorn, if you wish.

Toss gently with a spatula.

Serve warm and enjoy ☺

Notes

  1. Feel free to explore and incorporate other ingredients into this popcorn such as mango, pineapple, dates, figs, raisins, ginger, etc.

  2. Remember, 100% pure unsweetened chocolate has a deep chocolate flavor, but it is bitter. The sweetness of the fruit and honey, balanced with the salt, will compliment its dark flavor tones. You should use the chocolate sparingly.

  3. Be open to exploring various flavors of natural honey. You can find them at local health food markets.

  4. BE CAUTIOUS NOT TO USE EXCESSIVE SALT.

  5. Store popcorn in an airtight container or bag to make this an on-the-go snack.
