2022 College Scholarship Application

 Application Period

May 23, 2022 - June 24, 2022

GENERAL INFORMATION

Eastern Star Church (ESC) Scholarships are:

  • Awarded to ONLY members of ESC who are high school seniors entering a certification program, trade or vocation school, or college/university for the first time in the fall semester following graduation:

    • Certification Program (examples: Cosmetology, Barber, Child Development Associate, etc.)

    • Trade and Vocational Schools (examples: electrician, welding, etc.)

    • College or University

  • Scholarships are awarded to students in a ONE-TIME LUMP SUM. Students cannot reapply each year.

 

CRITERIA FOR APPLYING AND CHECKLIST

HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS MUST:

  • Submit a completed scholarship application. Please complete all fields or the application will be deemed ineligible.

  • Verify membership. You (student) must be a verified member of Eastern Star Church for a minimum of one year at the time of application. Submit proof of membership from the Eastern Star Church Membership Department in your packet.

  • Provide an original final transcript from your high school in your packet.

  • Be admitted to a degree or certification-seeking program for the Fall of 2022. Submit an official letter of acceptance from a college/university, trade or vocational school, or certification program with the application.

  • Complete one ESC Teen Financial Freedom Institute (FFI) course (six-weeks). All sessions must be completed. Teen FFI classes are offered February 7 – March 14, and April 4 – May 9. Include your completion certificate in your packet. Please contact Traci Bowman if there are any issues regarding scheduling to ensure compliance with this requirement.

  • Submit a hard copy of your senior photo in your packet.

  • Must have attended a College Readiness Workshop conducted by the Center for Leadership Development either hosted by CLD or Eastern Star Church. NOTE: Please include the certificate of completion with your application after attending the workshop.

 

HOW TO SEND INFORMATION TO SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

ApplicantS must:

  1. Send all required documents in ONE PACKAGE. The scholarship committee will not accept application materials that are mailed separately, hand delivered, dropped off at the front desk, etc. All application packets must be mailed.

  2. Completed application packet must be postmarked by Friday, June 24, 2022, NO EXCEPTIONS.

  3. Mail completed application packet to the following address:

Please Note: It is recommended that you mail completed scholarship package by certified mail so that you will have a receipt for your records.

 

FAQS

  • Students will be notified of their award via phone call during the month of July. Students receiving a scholarship must be present or send a representative to receive the scholarship award during Sunday services on Sunday, July 24, 2022. NO CHECKS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AFTER Monday, JULY 25, 2022.

  • Turn in all the appropriate documents and meet the eligibility requirements. Applications will be immediately deemed ineligible if applicants submit incorrect documents or do not meet the eligibility requirements. Applicants whose scholarship application packages are not approved will receive a letter in July. PLEASE REVIEW THE APPLICATION PACKET BEFORE MAILING TO ENSURE YOUR APPLICATION PACKET IS COMPLETE.

  • An original final transcript can be obtained from the guidance counselor or school office. No report cards, progress reports, photocopies, faxes, or hand-delivered documents will be accepted.

    An original final transcript is signed and embossed with a seal on the document. Note: If the envelope containing the school transcript has a seal, it is o.k. to break that seal to verify the transcript.

    An original final transcript shows that the student has graduated.

    An original final transcript has all of the semesters and their grades listed. If students are still taking classes, their transcripts WON'T reflect this information. Wait until all classes are completed, and grades are turned in before requesting a transcript.
