2011 Contribution Statement Requests Now Available! Planning to deduct your contributions to the church on your 2011 Tax Return? If so, per IRS guidelines, certain contributions may not be deductible prior to receiving a receipt. If you wish to receive a contribution statement from Eastern Star Church for your 2011 contributions, Click here, Your statement will be emailed to you no later than January 31, 2012.  If you do not have computer access, Contribution Request forms are now available for pick up from Usher’s Station at all locations, statements will be mailed no later than January 31, 2012. You may also request your statement directly via email to pflowers@easternstarchurch.org.  Please include all required information in your request.

Inclement Weather Notification Process It’s that time of year again!  In the event of church closings, delays and/or ministry cancellations related to severe weather conditions you may utilize the following resources for the latest information: Eastern Star Church Website – You may visit the Main Page of the Church Website: EasternStarChurch.org and in the event of major church closings, the announcement will be scrolling at the top of the page. Ministry Information Line – Call the Ministry Info Line at  (317) 591.6390 to check for any ministry cancellations or updates. Church Office – You may call the Church Office Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. to inquire of any weather-related updates. News Stations – Tune into WISHTV8, WTHR13 or FOX59 to see any ON-AIR scrolling updates. News Websites – You may visit the following news websites to see closings/delays: WISHTV.com, WTHR.com, FOX59.com and RTV6.com. (Updated every 5 min.)

The first New Member Orientation class for the year  is scheduled for Saturday, January 28th , 8:30am-12:30pm on the 30th Street Campus.  Register by calling the New Member Information Line @ 591-5390, press 3, then 5. 

A Special Consecration for Leadership and Ministry Workers will take place at Communion & Baptism Service on Sunday, January 29th at 5:00 p.m. at the Main Campus. All ESC, NBFC and NHC leaders and ministry workers are asked to be in attendance and wear your ministry attire that evening! If you belong to multiple ministries please choose one ministry to represent for that evening.

Join us for our FIRST Communion and Baptism Service of the NEW YEAR on January 29th, 2012 at 5:00pm at the Main Campus.  Our guest speaker will be Bishop Victor Couzens, from Inspirational Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio and the New Beginnings Fellowship Church providing music. All those who currently participate in serving communion please arrive no later than 4:30pm. All Baptism candidates must arrive by 4:00pm for check-in at the Usher’s Station.

If you are interested in American Sign Language and want to learn how to sign, there is a class coming soon!  ASL class begins Monday, January 30, 2012, 6:30pm–8:15pm, at the 30th street Main Campus. The cost for the class is $100.  You may register by emailing the instructor r.noel@gmail.com with your contact information.  You may also register the first night of class. Our very own Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson Sr., will be a featured celebrity player at the Gridiron Celebrity Hoops XIV on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., at Butler University Hinkle Fieldhouse. Other celebrity players include, Chris Brown, Terrell (TO) Owens, Rosevelt Colvin, and Tamika Catchings. This is sure to be a thrilling game of action-packed basketball. Stay tuned for ticket information!

Teaching is a Journey for Student and Teacher.  Do you believe you have the gift of teaching?  Do you have a passion for sharing God’s Word with others so they can clearly understand it?  Do you like to research, prepare and share information?  If so, the Christian Education Department would like to talk to you.  You are invited to attend ONE of two informational meetings held to share additional details about what it takes to be a Sunday School teacher for Eastern Star Church.  Members from all three locations are invited to attend.   Both meetings will be held at the 30th Street location.  Monday, February 27, 6:30-8:00P, 3rd floor, Room J303AB.  Saturday, March 3, 9:00A-11:00A, 3rd floor, Room J303AB.  Attendance is required at ONE of these two meetings.

Don’t forget! Sunday, January 29th, is the last day to support The Women of the Word Ministry is partnering with PromGenie, Inc., a not-for profit organization who provides Junior and Seniors with FREE prom dresses and accessories, to collect formal wear, jewelry and accessories for their “Boutique Days”.  Donation boxes will be at all locations.   Please note:  PromGenie, Inc. will dry clean all donated dresses.

Save the Date! Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson Sr., has been invited to speak at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church as they host the Union District Association Inc., Revival on Tuesday, February 7th -Thursday, February 9th at 7:00p.m. This is sure to be 3 nights of inspirational worship based on the theme “Unity”, Psalm 133:1.

Save the Date! The “Forty Day Corporate Fast” begins Tuesday, February 22nd and ends on Sunday, April 1st! Start making your spiritual preparations now for this powerful time of fasting and prayer.  More info to come!

Next Baby Dedication! Please note, Baby Dedications will not be held in December, but will resume Sunday, February 26th during the 12:15 service at the Main Campus. To sign up, please e-mail lspidle@easternstarchurch.org or sign up ONLINE at www.easternstarchurch.org and click on the “Contact Us” link and select “Baby Dedication Request Form”. You may call (317)591.5050 ext. 101 if you do not have access to a computer.

For your information: Baptism requires no advance sign-up or call-in scheduling. After joining the church plan to attend the next scheduled baptism on Sunday, March 4th at New Beginnings Fellowship Church at 5:00 p.m. Men & Boys please bring with you a solid white T-Shirt, white full underwear (no bikini) and white socks. A pair of white pants will be provided. Also bring a dry set of undergarments.  Women & Girls please bring with you solid white undergarments i.e. undershirt or bra, full underwear-no bikini, thongs, etc, full-slip, white socks, and a white shower cap (optional). A white shirt & skirt will be provided.  Also bring a dry set of undergarments.

Are you interested in guiding and encouraging new members to develop in their faith?  The Barnabas Ministry may be the ministry for you! This ministry helps new members get connected for growth at Eastern Star. Members are required to serve at least 1-2 Sundays a month, attend monthly ministry meetings and make follow up phone calls to new members.   If you have a passion for this kind of ministry, please contact our ministry   information line @ 591-5390, press 8, then 6 or talk to a Barnabas Ministry member.
